Ping Pong of Memory (working title) - short doc
About a year ago, our director Niya Veleva came across the moving story of two men living with dementia whose dream was to take part in this year’s World Alzheimer’s Table Tennis Championship. Their determination and spirit deeply resonated with her, inspiring the creation of Ping Pong of Memory - a short documentary following Vesselin and Stoil on their journey to the championship.
Through their story, the film explores memory, identity, and the human fight to stay free through the simple yet powerful rhythm of table tennis. It portrays a different side of life with Alzheimer’s; one defined not by stillness, but by movement, connection, and the will to keep living.
As a team of independent filmmakers, we’re dedicated to telling authentic, uncelebrated human stories. With Ping Pong of Memory, we believe in the power of Vesselin and Stoil’s journey to inspire others affected by Alzheimer’s- something that holds personal meaning for us as well.
